The Efficacy and Safety of Clarithromycin(Klaricid) on Acute Tonsillitis

Abstract
|
|
|
We administered Clarithromycin 250mg twice daily for I week to 30 patients with acute tonsillitis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Clarithromycin.
Clinical signs and symptoms, tonsil swab culture, blood test(CBC, ESR, CRP, serum aminotrans-ferase. serum creatinine) and urine analysis were performed prior to treatment and after I week treat-ment of Clarithromycin.
We achieved a clinical success rate of 100% during 1 week treatment of Clarithromycin on acute tonsillitis. Two cases(6.7%) of adverse events(indigestion and diarrhea) were reported by the patients.
These results suggest that Clarithromycin is effective and safe antibiotics on the treatment of acute tonsillitis.
